Ben Vaughn

Ben Vaughn is an experienced litigator with extensive experience handling complex civil matters and leading investigations and enforcement actions at the highest levels of government.

Prior to joining Costin Marcus, Ben was a Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission where he led investigations into companies and individuals under all facets of the Securities Laws. Before his work at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ben was a Senior Litigation Counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau where he managed investigations and litigation under consumer financial protection laws, including the Consumer Financial Protection Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, and Truth in Lending Act.

Ben began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge J. Frederick Motz of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in Baltimore. Following his clerkship, Ben spent several years at Williams and Connolly, where his practice focused on complex civil litigation, enforcement matters and government investigations. Ben also served in roles on Capitol Hill and in the White House.

Ben earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center. He obtained a BA from Wesleyan University and a MS in Public Policy from the London School of Economics.

Ben is admitted to the State Bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is not yet licensed to practice law in Virginia and his application for admission to the State Bar of Virginia is pending.
